I wanted to do a Christmas card design this year, but again, events have conspired against me. In this case, it's a coming layoff *koff* and engagement *KOFF* and xmas in general *grumbles* that have formed a mighty tagteam. So I've dipped into the ancient stash to produce one I said I wouldn't show.
This pic is a lot of firsts rolled into one. It's my first serious digital coloring job, and my first attempt at path coloring (which I only started to get away from this year). It's also my first commission, and this wasn't intended to be a xmas card design. A friend of mine wanted me to do a drawing for a story she was writing for another friend of hers, and I was supposed to get a story in return. I could post the artwork after the story was delivered. When I discovered I wouldn't have time to do a xmas card design after that,I asked her permission to print this and send it out in its place. I made 80 copies, got 80 more as a bonus from the printer, and learned that Kinkos is in fact the seat of Satan himself. Never go to Kinkos.
I was very proud of the coloring job, though I must say that her lack of lower extremities was much less obvious on the dark monitor I was using at the time. She's not a paraplegic; I just felt that her legs would be less visible and didn't bother adding them in.
